Puretec MC Series Moulded Carbon Cartridge

The Puretec MC series is a moulded carbon cartridge. Same job as the CB carbon block, chlorine, taste and odour, with the carbon moulded into shape. It is the alternative to the CB range rather than a different stage in the system, so you fit one or the other, not both.

Which micron? 5 micron is the standard choice and covers chlorine, taste and odour on town supply. 1 micron filters finer at the same time as treating taste. 0.5 micron is the fine grade for where you want cyst level filtration alongside the carbon.

Put it second, not first. Carbon is the expensive stage. On tank or bore water put a sediment cartridge ahead of it, or grit blocks the carbon long before the carbon itself is spent.

Which size? Slimline is the standard 2.5 inch diameter cartridge. Jumbo, which Puretec calls MaxiPlus, is 4.5 inch and takes far more flow and far more dirt before it blocks, which is why whole house systems use it. The 10 inch and 20 inch measurement is the length. Your housing decides this, not your preference, so measure the old cartridge or read the housing label before you order.
