Puretec MB Series Melt Blown Sediment Cartridge

The Puretec MB series is a melt blown, dual graded density sediment cartridge and the entry point of the Puretec range. Graded density means the material is looser on the outside and denser towards the middle, so dirt loads through the depth of the cartridge rather than blinding the surface. Polypropylene construction, so it will not impart taste, odour or colour.

Which micron? 20 or 50 micron as a coarse first stage on dirty tank or creek water. 5 micron is the general purpose choice most whole house systems run. 1 micron polishes, and goes ahead of a UV steriliser where the water has to be clear for the UV to work.

Basic or Premium? The MB is the budget sediment cartridge. The Premium equivalent is the PX polyspun, which uses more precise graded density and holds more sediment before it blocks. If you are changing cartridges more often than you would like, the PX is usually cheaper over a year even though it costs more per cartridge. Neither is washable, both get replaced when loaded.

Which size? Slimline is the standard 2.5 inch diameter. Large Diameter is 4.5 inch and takes far more flow and far more dirt before it blocks, which is why whole house systems use it. The 10 inch or 20 inch is the length. Your housing decides this, so measure the old cartridge or read the housing label before ordering. Note that Puretec's Basic large diameter cartridges are coded LD, and the Premium ones MP. They fit the same housings.
