Puretec LD Series Large Diameter Filter Housing, 4.5 inch

The Puretec LD Series is the large diameter 4.5 inch housing, what Puretec cartridges call jumbo or MaxiPlus. It holds roughly four times the media of a standard 2.5 inch housing, which means far more flow and far more dirt held before it blocks. This is the housing whole house systems are built on.

No cartridge is included

A housing is an empty vessel. It does not filter anything on its own and no cartridge is supplied with it. You choose the cartridge separately to suit your water and the job you want done, which is the point: the same housing runs sediment, carbon or scale prevention depending on what you put in it.

Why large diameter for a whole house? A standard housing on a house main will restrict flow and block quickly, and you will be changing cartridges constantly. The extra cost of an LD housing is paid back in cartridges within a year on most supplies, and the shower pressure will thank you.

10 inch or 20 inch is the cartridge length. Twenty inch holds twice the media and runs about twice as long. On tank, bore or creek water, go 20 inch.

Housing or kit? A kit adds the mounting bracket and the housing wrench. Buy the kit unless you already own both, because a large diameter housing cannot be opened by hand.

Connection size, 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch, is the inlet and outlet thread. Match it to your pipework. Reducing a 1 1/2 inch main down to a 1 inch housing throws away the flow you paid for.

These take the LD and MP coded cartridges. Basic large diameter cartridges are coded LD, premium ones MP, and both fit.
