Short description

The Puretec GA series is a granular activated carbon cartridge, built to reduce taste, odour, chlorine and some sediment. Loose granular carbon gives the water more contact with more carbon surface than a solid block does, which is why it is used where taste is the main complaint.

Basic range

This is Puretec's Basic range. It costs less and does less than the Premium equivalent, which lasts longer and filters to a higher capacity. Both fit the same housings, so you can move between them at the next cartridge change. Full guidance is in the description below.

The Puretec GA series is a granular activated carbon cartridge, built to reduce taste, odour, chlorine and some sediment. Loose granular carbon gives the water more contact with more carbon surface than a solid block does, which is why it is used where taste is the main complaint.

Refillable large diameter. The two large diameter options are refillable: when the carbon is spent you replace the media rather than the whole cartridge. On a house that goes through carbon, that is the cheapest way to run it.

Put it second, not first. Granular carbon is not a sediment filter. On tank or bore water put a sediment cartridge ahead of it. All grades here are 5 micron.

Which size? Slimline is the standard 2.5 inch diameter. Large Diameter is 4.5 inch and takes far more flow and far more dirt before it blocks, which is why whole house systems use it. The 10 inch or 20 inch is the length. Your housing decides this, so measure the old cartridge or read the housing label before ordering. Note that Puretec's Basic large diameter cartridges are coded LD, and the Premium ones MP. They fit the same housings.

Genuine Puretec cartridges. These are consumables with a service life rather than a warranty period, but if one arrives faulty or not as described, come to us first and we will do the legwork with Puretec on your behalf.
