Where it fits
This is the entry level Puretec UV filtration setup for homes on rainwater, bore, or rural water that want a budget pick over the Hybrid range. The WU-UV100 handles smaller homes up to 60 L/min, the WU-UV200 covers higher flow up to 110 L/min. For premium build with a lockable cabinet, longer warranty, and higher pressure rating, step up to the Hybrid I-Series (indoor) or Hybrid E-Series (outdoor). For outdoor install on the Basic, add the WU-UV-COVER weather cover.
Common questions
Which size do I need, WU-UV100 or WU-UV200?
Match to peak flow. The WU-UV100 has 10 inch cartridges and suits smaller homes up to 60 L/min. The WU-UV200 has 20 inch cartridges for higher flow up to 110 L/min and longer between cartridge changes. Pick the bigger size if you have a busy household or want service intervals spread out further.
How is it different from the Hybrid range?
The Basic WU-UV is the entry level: open wall mount bracket, RL6 UV lamp, 520 kPa max pressure, 1 year warranty. The Hybrid I-Series (indoor) and Hybrid E-Series (outdoor) step up to an integrated cabinet, RL7 46W lamp, 875 kPa pressure rating, and 3 year warranty (1 year parts and labour, 2 years parts only). Pick Hybrid for a premium long term install, Basic for a budget setup.
Will it treat bore water?
Yes, within Puretec's published water quality limits. If your bore has high iron, hardness, or hydrogen sulfide, fit iron removal or softening upstream before the WU-UV. Puretec can run a UV transmittance test if you are unsure. Talk to us first.
How often do the UV lamp and cartridges need changing?
UV lamp every 12 months (Puretec RL6). Cartridges every 6 to 12 months depending on water quality. Check the quartz sleeve every 3 months. Replacement lamp code RL6, quartz sleeve RQS6.
Can I install it outdoors?
The bracket is built for indoor or undercover install. For outdoor, add the WU-UV-COVER weather cover, sold separately, which protects the unit from sun and rain. Without the cover, keep the unit indoors or under shelter.
What should we watch out for at install?
Keep the unit dry and the controller surge-protected. Allow 120 mm clearance below for lamp and cartridge changes.
What is the warranty in NZ?
Puretec offers a 1 year warranty, parts and labour, on the Basic WU-UV. Cartridges and UV lamps are consumables and not covered. If something goes wrong, come to us first and we will do the legwork with Puretec on your behalf. Puretec are usually accommodating, but warranty cover is at their discretion and they may ask for photos of the install before approving a claim. For longer warranty cover (3 years), step up to the Hybrid range.
