The Puretec CFS is a whole house carbon filter with an automatic backwashing head. It carries a deep bed of activated carbon rather than a cartridge, so it strips chlorine, taste and odour from every tap in the house and keeps doing it for years without a cartridge change. On chlorinated town supply it is the difference between filtered drinking water and a filtered house.

Get a water test first. Every one of these systems treats a specific problem, and the wrong one will not fix your water no matter how much it costs. A test tells you what you are actually dealing with. We would rather tell you that before you spend the money.

• Put sediment first: on tank or bore water run an SFS or a cartridge stage ahead of it, or grit fouls the carbon bed
• Drain and power required at the install location

Why We Like It

Cartridge carbon is fine at a sink. For a whole house on chlorinated supply it is a losing battle, and this is what we fit instead. Worth noting it does not soften or remove iron, so if you have those problems too it is one stage of a train, not the whole answer.
