The Puretec EC series is an extruded coconut carbon block cartridge. It reduces chlorine, taste and odour, and the high porosity design keeps the pressure drop low and stops the cartridge plugging before the carbon is actually used up. Gold Seal certified for material safety and ISO 9001:2030 verified.
Which grade? 5 and 10 micron are the standard choices for chlorine, taste and odour. 1 micron filters finer at the same time. 0.5 micron adds cyst reduction, for cryptosporidium and giardia on roof, creek or bore supplies. The 0.5 micron cyst and lead grade adds heavy metal reduction, usually an older plumbing problem.
Put it second, not first. Carbon is the expensive stage. On tank or bore water run a sediment cartridge ahead of it or grit will block the carbon long before the carbon is spent. On town water it can run on its own.
Basic or Premium? The Premium equivalent is the CB carbon block, which adds SilverPlus bacteriostatic treatment and carries a much higher chlorine capacity, so it runs longer before it stops working.
Which size? Slimline is the standard 2.5 inch diameter. Large Diameter is 4.5 inch and takes far more flow and far more dirt before it blocks, which is why whole house systems use it. The 10 inch or 20 inch is the length. Your housing decides this, so measure the old cartridge or read the housing label before ordering. Note that Puretec's Basic large diameter cartridges are coded LD, and the Premium ones MP. They fit the same housings.
Genuine Puretec cartridges. These are consumables with a service life rather than a warranty period, but if one arrives faulty or not as described, come to us first and we will do the legwork with Puretec on your behalf.
