TankSafe water test strips give you a quick read on your tank at home. Immerse a strip for 2 seconds, wait 30 seconds and compare it against the colour chart. Use them 24 hours after dosing TankSafe to confirm the dose landed, then every 2 to 3 weeks or after significant rainfall to check it is holding.

These are a check, not a water test. A strip tells you whether your tank treatment is working. It will not tell you about iron, manganese, nitrate, hardness, silica or heavy metals, and it is not a substitute for a laboratory analysis.

For a real water test, use Hill Laboratories. Ask for the Routine Water suite, tick the Silica test as well, and add E. coli on any tank, roof or shallow bore supply. Call them on 0508 HILL LAB and they will send you sample bottles. Run the tap for 20 minutes first and sample as close to the source as you can get.
