Where it fits
This pump suits clean and grey water sumps and septic systems, most often the second chamber of a septic tank where it pumps settled effluent out to the disposal field. It handles fine soft solids up to 1 mm, so it is for water that has already settled, not raw dirty water. For dirty water with larger soft solids, the vortex D15VA or D40VA are the right pumps. For house water pressure, use a house pump instead.
Common questions
What is the D23AB for?
Clean and grey water sumps, and septic systems. Most commonly it sits in the second chamber of a septic tank and pumps settled effluent out to the disposal field. The float runs it automatically.
Is it automatic?
Yes. The built in float starts the pump when water rises to the switch on point and stops it when the level drops. No manual switching and no risk of forgetting it.
What can it pump?
Clean and grey water carrying fine soft solids up to 1 mm. It is for water that has already settled, not raw sewage or dirty water with larger or hard solids.
How is it different from the D15VA and D40VA?
Those are vortex pumps for dirty water with larger soft solids, 20 mm on the D15VA and 35 mm on the D40VA. The D23AB is for clean and grey water with fine solids to 1 mm, like settled septic effluent. All three are automatic, so choose by how dirty the water is.
What should we watch out for at install?
Keep the pump clear of the very bottom so it does not clog on settled silt, and check the float has room to swing. Do not run it dry. For the full rundown, follow our install guide.
What is the warranty in NZ?
Davey warrants this pump for 2 years. If something goes wrong, come to us first and we will do the legwork with Davey on your behalf. Davey are usually accommodating, but warranty cover is at their discretion and they may ask for photos of the install before approving a claim. The cleaner the install, the easier the claim.
