Where it fits
This is whole house filtration for mains or town water, where chlorine, taste, odour, and sometimes sediment need cleaning up before the water reaches the taps. WH1 single housings cover chlorine and odour only, ideal where the supply is clean but chlorinated. WH2 dual housings add a sediment cartridge before the carbon, the better pick if your mains carries any sediment or you want longer carbon life. For tank or bore water that needs UV disinfection, look at the Hybrid I-Series (indoor) or Hybrid E-Series (outdoor), which include UV. For drinking water only at the kitchen tap, look at the RO270 under bench reverse osmosis.
Common questions
Which size do I need?
Pick by your water and your home. WH1 single carbon: WH1-30 for smaller homes, WH1-60 for medium to large. WH2 dual housing adds a sediment cartridge before the carbon.
What is the difference between WH1 and WH2?
The number of stages. WH1 has one cartridge (carbon block) for chlorine, taste, and odour. WH2 has two cartridges, a sediment cartridge first then carbon, so it removes silt and grit before the carbon stage. WH2 is the better pick on most mains supplies because the sediment cartridge saves the carbon from clogging early.
Will it remove bacteria?
No. The WH Series is built for treated mains water and does not disinfect. For tank or bore water that needs UV disinfection, step up to the Puretec Hybrid range, which adds UV to the filtration.
How often do the cartridges need changing?
Every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if you notice taste or odour returning. The WH2 sediment cartridge may need changing more often if your mains carries silt. Replacement cartridges: PX05MP1 (10 inch sediment), PX05MP2 (20 inch sediment), CB10MP1 (10 inch carbon), CB10MP2 (20 inch carbon).
Does it need power?
No. Water pressure drives it. That also makes it nothing to break electrically and easy to live with.
What should we watch out for at install?
Mount on a sturdy bracket (the unit comes with an aluminium wall mount bracket included) with isolation valves both sides so cartridges can be changed without shutting off the whole house.
What is the warranty in NZ?
Puretec offers a 10 year warranty on the housings: 1 year parts and labour, plus 9 more years parts only. Cartridges are consumables and not covered. If something goes wrong, come to us first and we will do the legwork with Puretec on your behalf.
