How it works
The Torrium2 senses both pressure and flow. When a tap opens it starts the pump quickly, so there is no lag or drop at the outlet, holds steady pressure while water is flowing, then stops the pump once flow ceases. Because it manages the pump electronically, there is no pressure switch clicking on and off, and no large pressure tank needed for a standard install.
Choosing the pressure range
TT45 covers 150 to 450 kPa and suits most standard household installs. TT70 covers 450 to 700 kPa and is for systems that need higher pressure, such as taller buildings or long runs where pressure is lost on the way. Match the range to the pump as well as to the house, because there is no point setting a pressure the pump cannot deliver.
Install and fault finding
Installation is straightforward with the male and female plugs pre fitted, so the pump plugs into the controller and the controller plugs into power. Clear status indicators on the unit make fault checking quick. It also reduces pump cycling, which is one of the main things that wears a pump out early.
What to watch out for
Keep it dry. Like any smart controller, the electronics do not like wet or damp conditions, so if the install is outside, fit a pump cover. Bait for ants around the pump too, because they are drawn to the warmth of the electronics and cause faults once they are inside.
