Where it fits
This is the whole house filtration to fit on rainwater supply, where dirt, rust, and algae need clearing before water reaches the taps. The washable pleated sediment cartridge does most of the work. If you also want some taste and odour reduction, pick the carbon variants. For mains and town water with chlorine to remove, look at the WH Series instead. For an all in one filtration plus UV in one cabinet, look at the Hybrid I-Series or Hybrid E-Series.

Which size do I need?
Pick by flow, connection size, and second stage. 10 inch housingssuit smaller and medium homes. 20 inch housings suit medium to large homes with longer service intervals. For UV pre-filtration pick the 1 micron polyspun versions. For taste and odour reduction pick the dual purpose versions. Send us your home and water source if you are unsure.
What is the difference from the WH Series?
The water source. The EM2 is designed for rainwater, with a washable pleated sediment cartridge that handles dirt, rust, and algae. The WH Series is designed for mains and town water, with carbon as the main job to remove chlorine. Pick by where your water comes from.
Does it disinfect?
No. The EM2 filters but does not disinfect, so it is not a complete rainwater treatment on its own. Pair the 1 micron polyspun versions with a UV system downstream to disinfect. For an all in one solution, the Hybrid range builds filtration plus UV into one cabinet.
Can it run on gravity feed?
Yes. The EM2 will operate on gravity feed pressure, which is a real advantage on rainwater installs where you may not have a pump on the inlet side. It also runs on standard pressure if you have a pump.
How often do the cartridges need changing?
The sediment cartridge is washable, so wash and reuse it until it stops cleaning up, then replace. The second stage (polyspun or dual purpose) typically replaces every 6 to 12 months depending on water quality. Replacement cartridge codes are listed on each variant.
What should we watch out for at install?
Mount on a sturdy bracket (one is included) with isolation valves both sides so cartridges can be changed without shutting off the house water.
What is the warranty in NZ?
Puretec offers a 10 year warranty on the housings: 1 year parts and labour, plus 9 more years parts only. Cartridges are consumables and not covered. If something goes wrong, come to us first and we will do the legwork with Puretec on your behalf.
