Grundfos PM PLUS automatic pump controller
Advanced pressure manager with adjustable start pressure for automatic pump control. Ideal for domestic water supply systems needing fine tuned pressure performance.
Why We Like It
The adjustable cut in pressure is the key difference. It lets you properly match the controller to the house, tank setup, or number of floors. More flexible than other pressure controllers and with built in pressure gauge.
More Info
Grundfos PM PLUS is an all in one pressure manager designed to automatically start and stop domestic water supply pumps based on demand. It suits Grundfos pumps and most other single phase pumps on the market.
Unlike fixed pressure controllers, PM PLUS features adjustable start pressure from 1.5 to 3 bar, allowing it to be tuned to suit different building heights and pressure requirements. It can be installed with or without a pressure tank.
PM PLUS includes built in dry run protection that stops the pump if water supply is lost and automatically restarts once conditions return to normal. In the event of a power outage, the unit resets itself when power is restored.

How it works
PM PLUS replaces a traditional pressure switch. Open a tap, pressure falls to the set cut in point, the unit starts the pump and keeps it running while water is flowing. Close the tap and it stops the pump. Because it senses flow as well as pressure, it holds steady pressure without the constant hunting you get from a switch and tank combination.
Adjustable start pressure
Start pressure adjusts from 1.5 to 3 bar. As a rough guide, the taller the building and the higher the outlets sit above the controller, the more start pressure you need. Set it too low on a two storey home and the upstairs shower feels weak. Set it higher than the pump can comfortably deliver and the system will struggle to reach cut in at all.
Protection
Built in dry run protection stops the pump if the water supply is lost, then restarts automatically once conditions return to normal. If the power goes out, the unit resets itself when power is restored, so nobody is walking outside to press a button after every outage.
Wiring options
We stock it two ways. The standard unit wires direct to the pump. The plug end option comes with the plug already fitted, so the pump cord plugs straight in with no wiring. If you are not doing your own electrical work, the plug end version is the easier buy.
Pressure tanks
PM PLUS works with or without a pressure tank. Adding a small tank cuts the number of pump starts on very light draws, such as a toilet cistern refilling, which is easier on the pump over the years.
